The Finger of God

March 29, 2024

I have been hearing about the Finger of God this week.

Did you know the Finger of God is mentioned in the Bible? Every time the finger of God is mentioned, deliverance followed.

16. And the Lord said unto Moses, Say unto Aaron, Stretch out thy rod, and smite the dust of the land, that it may become lice throughout all the land of Egypt.

17. And they did so; for Aaron stretched out his hand with his rod, and smote the dust of the earth, and it became lice in man, and in beast; all the dust of the land became lice throughout all the land of Egypt.

18. And the magicians did so with their enchantments to bring forth lice, but they could not: so there were lice upon man and upon beast.

19. Then the magicians said unto Pharaoh, This is the finger of God: and Pharaoh’s heart was hardened, and he hearkened not unto them; as the LORD has said.

Exodus 8:16-19

Pharaoh’s magicians gave recognition to God‘s Finger for touching the ground. This happened for the third plague to begin in Egypt before the Children of Israel were delivered.

18. And he gave unto Moses, when he had made an end of communing with him upon mount Sinai, two tables of testimony, tables of stone, written with the finger of God.

Exodus 31: 18

The Children of Israel had always been slaves, so they didn’t know how to live in their freedom. So God delivered them from the unknown of right and wrong by writing the 10 Commandments with His Finger on stone tablets.

4. They drank wine, and praised the gods of gold, and of silver, of brass, of iron, of wood, and of stone.

5. In the same hour came forth fingers of a man’s hand, and wrote against the plaister of the wall of the king’s palace: and the king saw the part of the hand wrote.

Daniel 5: 4-5

King Belshazzar had seen the hand writing on the wall. No one could interpret the words but Daniel. So the king calls for Daniel for his interpretation.

25. And this is the writing that was written, MENE, MENE, TEKEL UPHARSIN.

26. This is the interpretation of the thing: MENE; God hath numbered thy kingdom, and finished it.

27. TEKEL; thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting.

28. PERES; Thy kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians.

Daniel 5: 25-28

Daniel was made third ruler after he interpreted the writing. When we move on to the next chapter, we see that Daniel gets delivered from the lion’s den.

6. This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not.

7. So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.

8. And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground.

9. And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.

10. When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?

11. She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.

John 8: 6-11

Everyone was wanting the adulterous woman stoned to death. Jesus used his finger to write on the ground before he delivered the woman.

When God sent Jesus to save us, He sent us someone to give us deliverance from the punishment that we deserve. He sent someone to be the handwriting on the wall. He sent us someone to give us deliverance from the unknown of right and wrong. He sent us someone to deliver us from slavery.

Why not accept Jesus as your Savior?
